Another Life

Imagine driving down a long highway. The sun is in its last hours, placing light onto the land, reaching pockets and folds of earth. It feels good to be on the move, accelerating down a path, a promise. You are meditatively engaged with your momentum. Ahead lay the great ocean of truth, behind the known, the benign. On either side of you are great painted rocks placed atop a bed of earth and clay. You take your eyes off the road from time to time to look and contemplate the land, your life, your journey thus far. Your eyes glimmer briefly, wistfully your heart swells with a memory. The sadness you've experienced is as much a comfort as the joy. Looking out and all around, you know this land was built in much the same way as you - through time, turmoil, and triumph. You look ahead with the determination of a child, trepidation dissolved, and tenderness its replacement. You look ahead to another life.

Thank you endlessly to my family, my dear friends, fans who came to all the RI shows to hear these songs before they were recorded, lifelong thanks to Susan Carr, Bob Nelson, and Ani Johnson, and the musicians whose magic touched this project - Garrett Eaton, Jake Backer, Will Hutchinson, Sean Smith, Ronnie DiSimone, Jake Robert Beal, Tiger Darrow, Jaedon Avila, and all those whose Love has touched me.

yours,
Rae
